Candor Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 June 2026
Candor is an iOS app that helps you communicate better at work. It suggests how to phrase a message, helps you prepare for hard conversations, and gives you a short daily practice plan, using AI-assisted suggestions. Candor is anonymous-first: you can use it without creating an account or giving us your name or email. Candor is operated by Manmeet Sethi as an individual developer. For any privacy question or data request, email m20sethi@gmail.com.
1. Data We Collect
| Data category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Profile and onboarding data | An anonymous app/installation identifier, your locale, and the self-assessment you provide during onboarding (such as your role, the communication situations you find hard, and your goals) | Operating the app and personalizing your coaching and practice plan |
| Content you give to Coach | Messages, drafts, or descriptions you type or paste into Coach, screenshots you choose to attach, your practice answers, and lines you choose to save | Generating communication suggestions for you and tracking your practice progress |
| Microphone and voice (only if you use a voice practice feature) | Audio you record for a practice response, and its transcript | Providing spoken practice and feedback. The microphone is only accessed when you start a voice feature, and only if you grant microphone permission |
| Subscription data | Plan, subscription identifier, purchase and renewal status, and payment-provider identifiers | Activating, renewing, and supporting your subscription |
| App analytics and events | App opens, onboarding completion, feature usage, and practice and Coach events | Improving the product, debugging, and measuring campaigns |
| Advertising identifier | The iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA), only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission, and Meta app-event identifiers | Measuring whether ads led to installs, registrations, and purchases |
| Device and diagnostics | Device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and error traces | Reliability, security, and support |
2. How We Use Data
- Provide the core features: Coach suggestions, vocabulary and interview lessons, and your daily practice plan.
- Personalize what you practice based on the self-assessment and your progress.
- Activate and manage your subscription.
- Monitor reliability, debug errors, and improve product quality.
- Measure advertising performance and app conversion events.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. AI Processing of What You Share
When you ask Coach for help, the text, attached screenshots, or voice you share are sent to a third-party AI model provider so it can generate suggestions for you. Please do not share other people's personal, confidential, or sensitive information that you are not permitted to share. We aim to minimize storing the raw workplace text you paste, and we do not use that raw text as analytics event content.
4. Third-Party Providers
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Apple App Store and RevenueCat | Subscription checkout, billing, and purchase verification |
| OpenRouter | Routing what you share with Coach to an AI model to generate suggestions |
| Microsoft Azure | Secure hosting, backend, and storage of app data (including voice artifacts where used) |
| Meta | App events, ad measurement, and attribution using app-event data and advertising identifiers |
| Mixpanel | Product analytics and funnel measurement |
| Sentry | Crash reporting, error diagnostics, and release debugging |
| Expo | App build and runtime services |
5. Advertising and Tracking (App Tracking Transparency)
On first launch Candor asks for App Tracking Transparency permission. The iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA) is only collected if you allow it. With your permission, Candor uses Meta app events and the IDFA to measure app installs, registrations, and purchases. If you decline, the app still works; only the ad measurement is limited. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings, under Privacy and Security, then Tracking.
6. Payment Data
Payments are processed by Apple and RevenueCat. Candor does not receive or store your card or bank details. We store only the limited subscription and purchase identifiers needed to activate access, reconcile payments, and provide support.
7. Data Retention
We keep your profile, practice, usage, and subscription data while you use the app or as needed to provide the service. We may keep limited records for legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, and security purposes.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit and access controls, and we store data with reputable cloud providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, and loss.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- Candor is anonymous-first: you can use it without giving us your name or email.
- You can request access, correction, or deletion of your data by emailing m20sethi@gmail.com. Candor also supports deleting your profile and data from within the app where available.
- You can decline or revoke ad tracking in iOS Settings, under Privacy and Security, then Tracking.
- You can revoke microphone access anytime in iOS Settings for Candor.
10. Children's Privacy
Candor is intended for working professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
